Hello! Welcome to the development log for Morbid Curiosities, a horror simulation game about operating on dolls.
About Us
We’re 2 final year BA Games Design & Art students at the University of Southampton, Winchester School of Art.
I’m Laura, and I am predominantly in charge of programming and creating our game in Unity, as well as doing some 3D modelling and gameplay design. I’ll mostly be providing updates on the game’s development surrounding planned features, bug fixes and level updates.
My name’s Sam and I will be the one updating this blog on all things art. As much as I will be designing the levels with Laura, my posts will mostly discuss the direction we chose to go with the visuals and my process for creating them.
We both share a passion for horror games of various sub-genres and more narrative-driven games. Our game concept emerged from the combination of our interests in Gothic literature and dolls and is inspired by the mechanics of online “makeover” and flash games.
Game Synopsis
A point-and-click simulation horror game in which you take on the role of a doll repair shop owner in Victorian London. As you treat each patient admitted to the doll hospital, more and more anomalies make themselves clear; something organic seems to be taking root within these dolls. Through a series of increasingly disturbing surgeries, the player will operate on these dolls, learning more about this phenomenon and trying to fix their broken bodies.
